My Story
That search for identity shaped my early albums in Seattle (Curious Creature, Suitcase of Stones) and continues to guide my work — from jazz standards in Paris (Monochrome), to motherhood and writing sessions in Nashville (Blackbird Sessions), to my formative years studying ethnomusicology in Los Angeles (Galaxy’s Skirt, LOL).
What began as being miscast — a classical piano student — into a middle school jazz band became an eye-opening introduction to improvisation and songwriting. These tools became a way of finding my voice and a sense of belonging.
